Director of the ART Laboratory, Massachusetts General Hospital
Dr. Charles Bormann is the Director of the ART Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and Instructor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at Iowa State University, he received a M.S. in Reproductive Physiology from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from the University of Connecticut and then undertook his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Bormann’s research interests include investigating the effects of maternal and environmental factors on sperm, oocyte and embryo quality and developing non-invasive methodologies for assessing human embryo developmental competency. Dr. Bormann has been an invited speaker at several regional and national ART meetings. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of mammalian gamete and embryo physiology. Dr. Bormann is the past-president of the Society for Reproductive Biologists and Technologist (SRBT) and he currently serves as the Chair of the IVF Laboratory Director Committee for the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and as the Chair for the Membership and Credentialing Committee for the College of Reproductive Biologists (CRB).
